Dundalk Institute of Technology (DKIT) formerly Regional Technical College is a 90-acre  campus situated in Dundalk, County Louth, Ireland, halfway between Dublin and Belfast (each approximately 80 kilometres away).

DKIT was founded in 1970 and is amongst the leading Institutes of Technology in Ireland through its high quality teaching and innovative research programmes. Set in a state of the art campus, DKIT is a Government funded Institute of Technology with almost 5,000 students.

It's mission is to provide the community with quality third level education and services, relevant to the economic social and cultural development of the region in the national and international context. It aims to promote personal responsibility among all its students and enhance the professionalism of all its members in a supportive, inclusive and productive environment.

 The Institute’s reputation has been solidly built by providing quality educational opportunities in a broad range of disciplines from undergraduate degree to PhD level.

The college has four Schools, and each School has several Departments offering a wide range of courses. The Institute offers programmes in areas that it has traditional strengths such as Engineering, Science, Technology and Business, it has also diversified into Humanities, Arts, Music, Social Studies and Health. The School of Health and Science .

Entry to undergraduate programmes

International students are encouraged to stay at Halls of Residence in the first year of their studies here. Staying at halls of residence is more convenient in your first year then looking for accommodation. Apartments are furnished, and the standard of accommodation is generally consistent. It is a good way to meet other new students.

 International students can choose from 3 halls of residence

 1 . Directly on campus - Student Village

 2 .  A short walk off-campus Setanta Apartments – shared bedroom basis,

 3.  Mourne View Hall (individual bedrooms), 10 minute walk from Campus

 The halls of residence are privately owned and managed, and are independent of DkIT.

 However,  DkIT International Office can help with enquiries to hall-of-residence management.

Off-Campus Accommodation

Accommodation is also available in private houses close to DkIT. International students are strongly advised to only select rented houses fitted with a house alarm. Where requested, the staff of the International Office can provide a listing of privately-owned properties. There are some options available for International students to live with families for Homestay.

In addition to those mentioned above there are other types of accommodation available to students off-campus, such as:

1.            Rented

2.            Digs: This involves living with a host family.

3.            Self-Catering Accommodation which involves sharing a house, flat or apartment with other tenants.

SCHOLARSHIPS 

 The Institute makes international scholarships and discounts available in recognition of the ability of students from different countries to pay, and to reward academic achievement. Scholarships are related to respective country’s GDP per Capita (as per IMF 2014 statistics) and in recognition of the student’s level of academic achievement.

FREE ACCOMMODATION SCHOLARSHIP

Scholarships are in the form of free student accommodation and will be available for students who enter Year 1 of programmes open to International Students in the schools of Engineering, Science and Nursing and, Computing.

  • Dundalk Institute of Technology is a 90 acre (360,000 m2) campus located in Dundalk, County Louth.
